Creating a Portfolio
A portfolio in FinPal is a container for holdings, cash, and performance that you define — it doesn’t have to match a single broker account.
Why use more than one portfolio
Section titled “Why use more than one portfolio”Common ways people split things up:
- By broker (e.g. “Interactive Brokers” vs. “Moomoo”)
- By goal (e.g. “Retirement” vs. “House deposit”)
- By account type (e.g. “Taxable” vs. “Tax-advantaged”)
Each portfolio tracks its own holdings, cash balance, and performance independently, so you can look at any one of them in isolation, or see your dashboard’s combined view across all of them.
Creating one
Section titled “Creating one”From the Portfolios section, choose to add a new portfolio and give it a name you’ll recognize later. You can create as many as you need — there’s no limit tied to how many brokers or accounts you actually use.
Moving or renaming later
Section titled “Moving or renaming later”Portfolios can be renamed at any time without losing history. If you need to reorganize which transactions belong where, edit the transaction directly — see Portfolios & Transactions.
